will you scratch my bach?
October 3, 2007
what the hell is a maybach? if you have to ask you most likely are unable to afford one but it’s always fun to fantasize a little. maybach started out as a company making engines for zeppelin airships at the beginning of the 20th century. in 1997 mercedes benz revived the name and debuted a concept car using the maybach moniker. it was so well received that production began in the early 2000s with it’s main competitor being the rolls royce phantom. the line currently consists of two models, the 57 and the 62( the number refers to the length of each car’s wheelbase in decimeters.) with more models to be debuted soon, i believe it’s safe to say that the maybach represents the absolute pinnacle of luxury.
and when i say luxury i am referring to a new definition of the word. the interior appointments of the maybach are incomparable, eclipsing even those of the phantom. this is a car meant to be chauffered and the rear cabin’s accoutrements are suitable for any sultan or billionaire. the extended wheel base of the 62 allows the rear seats to fully recline while the built-in rollers massage all of those aching muscles. aching from what? i really have no idea. it’s not like whomever is being toted around in one of these cars was digging ditches all day. the only thing i ever even stress out about is money. i mean, i need a friggin’ massage, not some asshole lying around having sex with his harem all day(i’m actually really happy for them, i’m not bitter, really.) if you can afford a $400,000 car i don’t think money, or anything for that matter, is too much of a concern.
as someone who has lived in their car, i must say that i look forward to the day when i can move into a maybach.
pininfarina strikes again
September 9, 2007
i’m really not obsessed with maseratis though one would guess otherwise since thus far that’s all i’ve written about. nevermind that i am currently learning italian. the modenese design house of pininfarina strikes again. what can i say, much like a botticelli is beautiful, much like pavarotti’s voice resonates, the lines of the 2008 maserati gran turismo represent some stellar design.
this car is far from being pretty only on the outside. technologically innovative - it combines the suspension system with the transmission in order to limit shake while shifting gears. with a 4.2L v8 capable of 405 horsepower, it has a top speed of 177mph and will cost a cool $130,000. not too shabby…
a $10,000 exotic italian sports coupe you say?
August 21, 2007
this is it. a classic semi-exotic affordable sports coupe known as the maserati biturbo. pictured is an ‘87 spyder in all of its convertible-top glory. smart lines, luxurious interiors and the distinctive headlight/grill combination seen similarly in the quattroporte of the same mid-80s era. the biturbo was only imported to the U.S. between the ‘84 and ‘91 years of production. i actually prefer the european model if only for the polished burled walnut steering wheel which would never fly in the states (of course i’ve never done a face-plant on one during an accident.) for @$10,000 for one in decent shape call me a believer…
